SeDuMi 1.3

SeDuMi 1.3 has just been released. It supports Matlab versions up to 2009b and includes precompiled binaries for 32 bit and 64 bit platforms for Windows, Linux and Mac. (Thanks to Michael Grant for his help in cleaning things up in the compilation department). The code now takes more advantage of parallel BLAS and should give a nice speed-up for SOCP and SDP problems. Also, the memory requirements were eased a bit by using global variables to store some large and rarely used data items. Get it from the downloads section.

SeDuMi 1.21

After a long pause, a new version has been released. This version has been tested and confirmed to run under Matlab versions up to and including 2009a, both Windows and Linux in 32 and 64 bit flavours. Binaries for most platforms are provided, but if you want you can build them from source. An automatic installer script is provided to facilitate this. Special thanks to Michael C. Grant and Hans Mittelmann for their help with this release.

SeDuMi has moved!

After Imre Pólik and Tamás Terlaky have both moved to Lehigh University, SeDuMi has a new home at the Cor@l lab at Lehigh University. The migration was seamless, all the functionality (registration, forum, downloads) should work the same as before. The licensing terms are also unchanged.

SeDuMi 1.1

New SeDuMi release!

We are glad to announce the start of a whole new series of SeDuMi's. Now we are releasing SeDuMi 1.1. This is the first release since Jos Sturm died and the AdvOL took over the development. This release contains the following fixes and new features (for a detailed listing see the file Changelog.txt in the SeDuMi root folder or the Version history menu to the left):

Most importantly the installation procedure has changed slightly, now SeDuMi can be compiled easily on any platform where there is a working Matlab. We have tested it on Windows, Linux, MacOS X, AIX, Solarix, with different compilers (MSVC, GCC, native platform compilers) and everything works without a problem.

In terms of operations we have started to implement a new preprocessing routine. For more details see the documentation. This will be one of the major topics for the next couple of months.

We have also published a document summarizing our plans with SeDuMi. Please help us by sharing your views with us at the SeDuMi Forum.

SeDuMi is back!

SeDuMi is a great piece of software for optimization over symmetric cones. It was developed by Jos F. Sturm, who passed away in 2003. Following some months of uncertainty the Advanced Optimization Lab at McMaster University has agreed to continue the development and maintenance of SeDuMi. The developers are Oleksandr Romanko and Imre Pólik, both are PhD students of Dr. Tamás Terlaky. In the future this will be the official website of SeDuMi.

Current versions can be found in the Downloads section of this website. You can access this part only after logging in. Regsitration is free, we never publish any data of you, especially your email address will never appear on our website. The Downloads section currently contains the latest release by Jos, i.e. version 1.05 R5. The latest modification is from 2003, but the core code has not changed much since 2001. The complete list of changes since 1998 is in the Version history section. First we plan to release some builds updated for Matlab 7. Also, we are going to release Windows builds optimized for Pentium IV and Athlon processors. Most probably we release experimental Mac builds and instructions on how to compile SeDuMi on Mac. Our future plans depend on the feedback from users.

If you have any questions, ideas or you found some bug, please visit our user forum and share it. Please tell us what you would like to see implemented in SeDuMi, what limitations bug you the most, and how we could make SeDuMi even better. Note that you have to log in before you can post to the Forum. As an extra benefit you can get notified about new SeDuMi releases or bugfixes.
