To make it work, you have to come up with some clever fix, either by reformulating the problem, or by somehow cleaning the data. When it comes to parameters, I don't have any deeper knowledge.

It is really odd. For instance, the following formulation chugs along nicely

So in this case that seems to indicate that sedumi, at least, might want an objective function near zero. Trying (gamSq-.225)^2 still runs into numerical problems though. Crap, I think I'm stuck with LMILAB.
